RS Components has released the first Japanese language version of its eTech magazine as an iPad application. Also available in online page-turner format, the Japanese edition of the free-of-charge and highly interactive publication will increase accessibility to the company’s fast growing range of electronics products and online services for suppliers and customers in the important Japanese market.

A first in the electronics distribution sector, RS’ new Japanese eTech iPad app is also the company’s first edition to be published in a local language targeted at a specific geographical market, and offers unrivalled depth of content to enrich the reader experience. It combines all of the user-friendly features and functionality of the English version launched earlier this year, including a provision for readers to view the articles while downloading them and a push messaging function that automatically sends a message when an update is available.

“The development of the eTech iPad app into Japanese is an important step in RS’ global strategy to engage design engineers using new media channels and online content. It complements other key elements of this strategy such as our online DesignSpark electronics design community and resource centre,” said Glenn Jarrett, Head of Electronics Marketing at RS. “The Internet gives us an unparalleled ability to reach customers locally in ways they find relevant to their work, and is vital for market penetration.”

eTech for iPad is available free-of-charge for download worldwide from the Apple store.
