RS Components is laying off up to 130 workers at its Corby, Northants facility.

A statement from RS Group said: “The industrial and electronics markets we serve remain challenging and we have taken the difficult decision to reduce some roles to position the business for long-term success.

“We can confirm that we are consulting on a proposed reduction of circa 130 roles in Corby, phased through to November 2024.

“However, until the consultation process is concluded we cannot confirm this.”

In a January trading update RS Group reported like-for-like revenue down 10% reflecting weak industrial sentiment. The distributor also reported a slower unwinding of customer surplus inventory particularly in electronics and associated products.

Like-for-like revenue of its industrial ranges were down 6% and electronics declined 23%.
