RS Components sponsored the Design Award Category at the Young Rewired State (YRS) Festival of Code. The winners seen at centre in the picture were the Mortune club represented by Kyra Mozley, Alexander North and Jack Spence.

RS presented the team with a special blue limited edition Raspberry Pi, which RS unveiled earlier this year to mark the first anniversary of the credit-card-sized computer. The winners of the ‘Best of Show’ category were also rewarded for their success by RS with a limited edition Raspberry Pi.

The Festival of Code is an annual event organised by Young Rewired State. The aim is to encourage young people to take up computer programming and offer them support. In the first week in August YRS assigns aspiring programmers to local clubs, and then over a weekend hosts a gathering of all participants – this year at the Custard Factory in Birmingham.

YRS sets four prize categories in advance for the kids to code their products towards. When the show and tell happens on Saturday, the judges will assess the final products based on the criteria against the four categories set in place.
