Farnell element14 has scooped the United Health – Diversity team of the year award at this year’s European Diversity Awards in London.

The independent awards, which are now in their second year, recognise and celebrate organisations and individuals that have shown innovation, creativity and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion during 2012.

The awards also recognise excellence in the areas of gender, disability, sexual orientation, age, race, culture and religion across Europe.
Farnell element14 was recognised for the outstanding contribution of the team for delivering change in the field of equality, diversity and inclusion and was up against strong competition from the likes of the Metropolitan Police; Centro; Police Region Fryslan, Netherlands; Novartis; BNP Paribas; Linguistic and Cultural Mediator Team and the Weener Group.
The company was also a finalist in the Company of the Year award.

Collecting the award on behalf of Farnell element14 Catherine Kirkland, who heads the diversity and inclusion programme across Europe, said: “This award means a huge amount to our teams across Europe as at Farnell element14, and across the wider Premier Farnell Group, we put a huge focus on our diversity programme. We have made great strides in recent years to put diversity at the heart of our culture and through our recruitment programmes.”

Neil Harrison, President of Farnell element14, added: “This is a fantastic award to win and I am extremely proud of the work that the teams across the business have done to make diversity such a key thread within our organisation. Winning awards like this, and against such strong competition, makes the hard work all the more worthwhile.”

This award follows Farnell element14’s success at the recent Women in Logistics Awards, which saw the company walk away as Company of the Year at a ceremony in July.
