emtrion’s latest industrial processor module DIMM-MX6, which is based on the multicore Cortex-A9 i.MX6 SoC family from Freescale is now available at Rutronik. The module offers a full electrical and mechanical compatibility with the other modules of the emtrion DIMM series.

Freescale i.MX6 processor brings high computing capabilities with up to 10.000DMIPS, multiple NEON and VPFU co-processors at a low power level, without requiring any active cooling system. This module is ideal for industrial applications as well as multimedia applications using its powerful GPU.

The module is available in several versions, with either i.MX6 Solo (1 core), Dual (2 cores) or Quad (4 cores) and on-board memories ranging from 512MBit up to 8GBit for the Flash (SLC NAND) and from 512MBit up to 2GBit RAM (DDR3). It is also qualified for an extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. emtrion guarantees the availability of its new module for at least 10 years.

With board support packages (BSP) and engineering services, emtrion supports a broad range of operating systems. The DIMM-MX6 is obtainable with BSP for Linux, that will be followed by BSP for Windows Embedded Compact 7 (WEC7), for GNX 6.5 and for Android 4.0.4. The BSP are available together with a developer kit, that includes a DIMM-MX6 industrial module, a base board, a display and a development environment.
