Microsemi has launched a master distributor programme with Avnet USI, part of the company’s defence/aerospace specialty distribution business. The two-tiered distribution programme, where Avnet USI will sell products exclusively to other distributors, beginning with select integrated circuit and high reliability discrete products, was designed to optimise sales growth opportunities for the company worldwide.
“Avnet USI is a great selection as Microsemi’s two-tier distributor for these products, as they have the capability to provide significant support for select regional distributors across the globe, enabling them to maintain the successful design wins they develop with our ever-expanding product portfolio,” said Michael G. Sivetts III, vice president of distribution sales at Microsemi. “In addition, this new programme lowers costs for these distributors to support longevity with customers and maximises our revenue opportunities.”
Avnet USI focuses on selling discrete semiconductor, passive and electromechanical components and associated value-added services.
The new programme enables local distributors to benefit from volume acquisition pricing; win orders due to quick product availability; and offers value against non-authorised distributors with full traceability, access to Microsemi’s return materials authorisation (RMA) processes and anti-counterfeit assurance.
Under the new programme, Microsemi’s regional distributors can leverage Avnet USI’s inventory breadth in their specific regions around the world and continue market growth momentum.
“Assuring traceability is one of the critical issues in the defence supply chain; and this programme is another step Microsemi is taking to ensure its products maintain that critical level of security,” said Glenn Notice, vice president and general manager, Avnet USI. “Additionally, Microsemi’s new master distributor programme enables Avnet USI to help make access to Microsemi’s products more convenient and cost-effective for customers around the world, and accelerate the development and commercialisation of innovative new products featuring Microsemi technology through our valuable supply chain expertise.”
