Avnet Abacus has extended its distribution agreement with Molex to include the BittWare field programmable gate array (FPGA) product range.
BittWare, a Molex subsidiary headquartered in Concord, New Hampshire, USA, provides FPGA accelerator products designed to increase application performance and energy efficiency while reducing total cost of ownership in enterprise-level computing, networks, computational storage and signal processing.
BittWare products are based upon FPGA technology from Xilinx, Achronix and others. BittWare is the only vendor-agnostic FPGA supplier of critical mass able to address enterprise-class qualification, validation, lifecycle and support requirements for high-volume customers.
The BittWare product range is based around FPGA accelerator boards and their associated IP and design tools. FPGAs are well suited to hardware acceleration of functions like packet processing and parallel computing in emerging data centre and AI applications.
Accelerator boards enable adoption of FPGA technology in standard card sizes, reducing hardware design effort and time to market.
Hagen Goetze, Senior Director Product Marketing at Avnet Abacus, commented: “Avnet Abacus, a leading design-in distributor offering a high level of technical expertise, has built up a strong, successful collaboration with Molex over the years. We are now taking on BittWare FPGA accelerators. Key areas we will address with the BittWare product range are data centres, instrumentation and NVMe storage.”
Paul Keenan, Sales Director Distribution Europe at Molex, said: “We have been impressed with Avnet Abacus’ successful record in working with Molex — in particular their excellent track record in finding and winning new projects for Molex solutions across our portfolio. We look forward to growing our business in Europe by leveraging the outstanding technical knowledge, customer focus and attention to detail that the Avnet Abacus team consistently demonstrates.”
Avnet Abacus is an authorised Molex distributor throughout Europe. Besides BittWare, Avnet Abacus supplies Molex interconnect products, sensors, transducers, switches, relays and applications tooling.
Molex acquired Bittware in May 2018.
