BT2000 has started the New Year in fine fettle by signing a UK and Ireland distribution agreement with Minnesota based Cymbet, a manufacturer of solid-state batteries and ultra-low power battery management solutions for microelectronics.

The partners will focus on the marketing of EnerChip rechargeable solid state thin-film batteries, and power management products, as well as the marketing of evaluation kits. The evaluation kits include the new EnerChip EP-Energy Processor , the universal energy harvesting EVAL-09 Kit and the EnerChip CC RF Induction charging-EVAL-11 kit The EnerChip CC combines a rechargeable solid state battery with a power management IC in an inexpensive single-chip drop-in package for emergency power supply , RTC back up and energy harvesting applications.

“The product portfolio of Cymbet is an ideal complement to our range of Innovative products which includes Power Management, Sensors and Communications products. We are convinced that the solid-state battery technology from Cymbet represents electronics technology of tomorrow and with so much emphasis on Energy Harvesting, RoHS & WEE compliancy, the Cymbet portfolio is a great solution. There are major savings for customers who wish to move to ECO Friendly solutions from older Coin Cell type technologies” said Philip Hall, Managing Director BT2000.
“With BT2000, we have found a distribution partner who can advance the commercialisation of our products optimally through its technical support and supply of complete solutions,” said William Priesmeyer, CEO of Cymbet Corporation.

Typical applications for Cymbet EnerChip batteries are power holdover, Embedded Energy using EnerChip bare die and energy harvesting applications. The EnerChip SSBs are used in many areas of industry for use in hand held equipment, process control systems, medical and fitness, consumer electronics, home appliances, mobile devices, transportation, renewable energy as well as in Internet of Things wireless sensor networks.

A major benefit of EnerChip SSBs are the surface mounted format and the capability to utilise cost reducing reflow-soldering methods and manual iron soldering resistant to 260 ° C. The SMT packaging reduces placement and handling costs, as EnerChip packages include standard DFN packages (DFN) or in quad flat no-leads packages (QFN).
The entire Cymbet product range will be on display at the Southern Manufacturing exhibition, Farnborough, in February with an opportunity to meet a member of the Cymbet team
