To drive growth through digital transformation and innovation across the business, Farnell has appointed Arfan Sabir (pictured) as its new Vice President of eCommerce.

Sabir brings the experience of delivering digital leadership roles at Mothercare, Dreams, Currys/PC World, Epson and Kokoba, in addition to serving as Global Director of eCommerce for LEGO Group, where he spearheaded the digital transformation and increased on-line revenue by 275 % in a two year period.

Most recently, he was appointed by Touker Suleyman of Dragons Den fame to grow his portfolio of businesses and investments online with a key focus and bias on leading the turnaround of Hawes & Curtis, the largest business within the portfolio.

Sabir said: “My key focus is to strategically accelerate Farnell to become a digital first business that will significantly enhance the experience for our valued customers and suppliers.

“Throughout my career my mantra has always been Good, isn’t good enough, why settle for good when awesome is out there? Through implementing a new operating model and series of digital innovations we will change the capability and capacity of our organisation to deliver the products that our customers want and when they want them, while in the process providing a frictionless experience and unparalleled level of service.”

Chris Breslin, President of Farnell, said: “Arfan has a proven track record spanning more than 20 years of driving growth and delivering world-leading digital and omni-channel experiences across international markets, and we are delighted to welcome him to Farnell.

“This is a hugely exciting period for our business in which ecommerce will continue to play an increasingly significant role and we look forward to Arfan realising the next steps on our journey to becoming a true ecommerce innovator.”
