RS Components today announced the launch of a major programme to support Industrial and Factory Automation design projects. More than 2500 new products are being added to its extensive portfolio from 20 manufacturers, together with a dedicated microsite in the RS website, providing full range details and supporting resources for engineers designing new applications.
RS has substantially increased its range of electro-mechanical products including connectors, sensors, cables, relays and switches designed to meet the requirements of modern process equipment. Highlights include the 62GB series electroless nickel plated, circular industrial backshell connectors from Amphenol and the EXPlora range of Atex rated connectors from Bulgin, designed for use in potentially explosive environments. Many of the new product introductions are environmentally sealed against damp, dust and low powered water jets, allowing them to be used in wash-down areas. New environmentally sealed switch technologies to be introduced include the KR series IP65 rated miniature rocker switches from Cherry, available in four different AC and DC electrical ratings.
The range is being brought together through a dedicated Industrial and Factory Automation microsite on the rswww.com website. The new pages bring together design resources from manufacturers such as Tyco Electronics, Amphenol, TRACO POWER, Omron and many more. Users will be able to browse by technology and find technical support notes from manufacturers on key products in the range.
“The market for products addressing Industrial and Factory Automation applications is continually evolving as OEM requirements advance and end products need to be increasingly intelligent. RS has always had a very strong portfolio to support this market but it has now been significantly increased and brought right up to date supported by outstanding online resources under a single umbrella,” commented Valerie Ramon, Category Business Manager – Electro-mechanical and Connectors, for RS Components.
Designers visiting the rswww.com Industrial and Factory Automation site can also use the other online design resources recently introduced by RS. These include a comprehensive library of certified 3D and 2D CAD models of electromechanical components, downloadable free of charge, in over 20 neutral and native formats. Developed in partnership with TraceParts, the service will eventually cover all 45,000 electromechanical components available from RS. Also available is Component Chooser, the world’s largest and most extensive parametric search engine of electronic components, providing an instantly accessible and consistent search and compare tool for 260,000 semiconductor, passive and electromechanical components from the world’s leading suppliers.
