Seven new DrMOS MOSFET devices from Fairchild Semiconductor are now in stock at RS Components. The devices offer high-current handling capabilities in an ultra-compact package leading to high PCB packing density.

The DrMOS family is Fairchild’s next-generation, fully optimized and ultra-compact integrated MOSFET-plus-driver power-stage solution for high-current high-frequency synchronous buck DC-DC applications. The FDMF6820C, for example, integrates a driver IC, two power MOSFETs and a bootstrap Schottky diode into a thermally enhanced ultra-compact 6x6mm PQFN package.

The new devices, which include the FDMF6820A/B/C, FDMF6823A/B/C and FDMF6833C, implement Fairchild’s proprietary and patented PowerTrench MOSFET technology. PowerTrench technology provides clean switching and minimal ringing, and significantly reduces the need for external snubber circuit components in most buck converter applications.

Key applications for the modules include: high-performance gaming motherboards; compact Blade Servers; desktop computers; workstations; high-current DC-DC point-of-load converters; networking and telecom microprocessor voltage regulators; and small form-factor voltage regulator modules.
