RS Components (RS) is bundling Raspberry Pi products to offer buyers a 20% cost saving when purchasing the low-cost single-board computer together with accessories.

The two bundles on offer consist of a Raspberry Pi Model A board (256MB RAM) plus 8GB SD card; and a Raspberry Pi Model B board (512MB RAM) plus 8GB SD card.

The 8GB SD card within each bundle comes pre-installed with the Raspberry Pi Foundation’s New Out Of Box Software (NOOBS), which is recommended for first-time Pi users. This software presents the user with a choice of operating systems to install, including Raspbian, Pidora and two versions of XBMC. Once installed the user can return to the NOOBS interface by holding down the shift key during boot, which enables it to switch to a different operating system, or to overwrite a corrupted card with a fresh install of the current card.

“The whole ethos of the Raspberry Pi is about providing an affordable, inclusive environment for enthusiasts and young people around the world to develop their interest and skills in computer programming, irrespective of background,” said Glenn Jarrett, Global Head of Product Marketing. “It is important that we do everything we can to keep the costs to customers as low as commercially possible through offers like these new bundles, to maintain the energy and enthusiasm for programming that the Pi has so successfully achieved over this past year.”
