Free online CAD tools are sine qua non for the high service distributors so its no surprise to see Digi-Key add to their PCB design armoury through an agreement with Aspen Labs.
“Many of our customers indicated that they liked Scheme-It, but wanted a quality, low-cost collection of electronic design tools,” said Randall Restle, Director of Applications Engineering for Digi-Key. “We saw great value in offering an industry-first suite of such cloud-based tools, and Aspen Labs has delivered an exceptionally easy-to-use PCB design product.”
PCBWeb can guide engineers from the earliest design stages to a finished hardware design, ready for production.
The free and easy-to-use PCBWeb tool includes: Schematic Capture, support of multi-sheet designs, PCB Layout, support of multi-layer boards with DRC, Component Editor and the ability to place Digi-Key parts into designs and manage those parts using the PCBWeb bill of materials editor
“We are excited to offer this tool to hardware designers, and through our strong partnership with Digi-Key Corporation we’ve designed PCBWeb with an integrated parts library that exceeds what is available in traditional CAD tools,” said Cody Miller, president, Aspen Labs. “Our goal is to provide engineers with a complete manufacturing solution for electronics hardware from start to finish.”
