MSC presents for the first time the innovative Wi-Fi solutions from the Sweden-based Wi-Fi specialist at embedded world 2012, Nuremberg in Hall 2, Booth 2-219 from February 28 to March 1, 2012.

The HDG104 (size: 7 mm x 8 mm) and HDG204 (size: 8 mm x 8 mm), Wi-Fi complete System in Package (SiP) modules are ideal for Atmel’s ARM and AVR solutions. They support 802.11b/g and are connected with the microcontroller via Secure Digital Input Output (SDIO) or Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). Both devices feature a very low power consumption of only 0.4 mW in power save mode and a high transmit power of +17 dbm for 802.11/b. The module requires only 0.2 mW in sleep mode. In addition, the receiver sensitivity is significantly higher than for comparable competitor products thus resulting in up to 33% higher range.

The SDK oWL© software suite, which is delivered with both of the complete modules (SiPs), provides users, despite a size of only 140 KB, with a wide range of functions and reference designs such as a Web Server implementation, WEP, AES or WPA/WPA2 encryption ensure high levels of security.
Since the HDG104 and HDG204 WiFi complete modules (SiPs) only require a few discrete external components, testing the module is simplified and the manufacturing yield is increased.

Another solution is the FCC and CE approved SPB800 family of complete Wi-Fi modules, which includes a low-power, high-performance 32-bit microcontroller with integrated 802.11b/g frontend, is equipped with all current embedded security protocols. The intelligent solution saves users the implementation of WLAN drivers, IP stack and security protocols on the host CPU and enables an immediate wireless connectivity for all devices that support UARTs, RS-232 and SPI interfaces. For use as transparent serial to WLAN interface or control by the host via the small 2 KB oWL Pico driver that work on any MCU platform

The pre-certified HDG104, HDG204 and SPB800 complete modules from H&D Wireless were designed primarily for building automation and consumer applications. Target application examples includes; combustion controls, smart thermostats, smart meters, air-conditions, control displays and an wide variety of M2M devices.
