In a spectacular race in the virtual Electric Docks circuit, Mouser Electronics-sponsored GEOX DRAGON Formula E driver Nico Müller overtook six positions in 15 laps to earn a third-place finish in Round Two of the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge.
In addition to Müller’s feat, Bulgarian sim-racer Peyo Peev took the win in the Challenge grid behind the wheel of the GEOX DRAGON Formula E car.
The third round of the Race at Home Challenge occurs at the virtual Monaco circuit on Saturday, May 9.
As part of Formula E’s fundraising partnership with UNICEF, the all-electric street racing series has entered the virtual world with the ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge — a nine-week esports competition featuring all the teams and drivers from the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, as well as a selection of top gamers.
The live online races raise funds for UNICEF to keep children around the world healthy, safe and learning during the coronavirus crisis.
Mouser is sponsoring the GEOX DRAGON team throughout the 2019-20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship racing season, in collaboration with TTI, and suppliers Molex and AVX. This is the sixth-straight year that Mouser and Molex have sponsored Formula E racing.
The ABB Formula E Race at Home Challenge features two separate grids running in parallel: one comprised of drivers from the ABB FIA Formula E Championship and the other filled with some of the fastest gamers. The winning gamer will make the transition from the gaming world to secure real-life track time on a Formula E circuit during a race weekend.
Races occur each Saturday, with points accumulated over consecutive race weekends contributing to the overall standings in the build-up to the grand finale virtual race on June 13.
