Three plug-in power adaptor ranges from Mean Well carry safety approvals to the latest international medical and healthcare standards. They are available from RS Components.
Example applications include blood glucose meters, blood pressure meters, nebulisers, inhalers and sleep apnea devices.
The GSM60E is a Class II double insulated power unit with a European standard 2-pin plug. The GEM60I is an international version used with four interchangeable plugs for European, US, UK and Australian type AC outlets.
Both adaptor types plug directly into a wall-mount AC outlet without the need for an AC cable, reducing total equipment cost and space requirement.
The adaptors accept AC input from 80 to 264 VAC, and are available with 5, 7.5, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24 or 48 VDC output. Rated output power ranges from 30 to 60 W. Short circuit, overload and overvoltage protection are included.
Each adaptor meets IEC 60601-1 medical safety requirements, with two MOPPs (means of patient protection) and a Type BF (body floating) rating for parts having conductive, medium- or long-term contact with patients.
Leakage current is low, at less than 100 µA, and no-load power consumption is less than 0.15 W. Energy efficiency is up to 90%, and all devices comply with DoE Level VI (Level V for low-voltage models) and EU ErP energy efficiency regulations (12–48 V).
The adaptors are packaged in 94V-0 grade flame resistant enclosures with IP22 ingress protection. Package size is just 75.5 x 32 x 47.5 mm for the GSM60E and 75.5 x 39.1 x 56.2 mm for the GEM60I. The operating temperature range is from –30º to +70ºC, and working humidity is up to 90%.
