Luso Electronics has announced the launch of an Electronics Distribution Division. Luso, which has offices in London, Birmingham and Leicester, has two other established divisions. Luso Microwave manufactures and installs microwave systems and components for commercial and satellite markets. Luso Power Transmission distributes engineering components, principally as service parts for US-made machinery.
The new Electronics Distribution Division will act as both a manufacturers’ representative and franchised distributor. First franchise deals will be announced next month and will include agreements with well-known suppliers of power supplies and magnetic components. At least one of the agreements will see Luso Electronics Distribution become the sole UK distributor for a leading power supply manufacturer. The appointment of a senior power electronics product specialist is imminent.
Luso, which is ISO EN 9001 (2000 REV) approved, has established the new division as a result of ongoing consolidation of UK component distribution. The company was approached by a number of suppliers who identified the need for a focussed, specialist distribution service to create demand for their products. Luso intends to concentrate on working with a few complementary suppliers of power supplies and magnetics.
A new Luso website is planned to coincide with the first franchise announcement in June 2011.
