Avnet Silica has signed an agreement with TrackNet a LoRaWAN Internet of Things (IoT) solutions provider, which will enable the distributor to offer a highly scalable edge-to-enterprise platform for the development of IoT projects and applications, based around the LoRaWAN communications standard and including sensors, gateways, network servers and cloud services.

The sensors are LoRaWAN compliant devices serving a wide range of sensing devices for motion and presence detection, door/window sensors, smart/healthy building applications, and asset tracking. They can be connected into existing public or private networks that are LoRaWAN compliant or utilised in TrackNet’s TrackCentral LoRaWAN network server.

Avnet Silica will offer connectivity through the TrackCentral network server to support private network deployments where LoRaWAN public networks are not available today.

This provides enterprises flexibility to choose between a public network, on premise installation, or LoRaWAN-cloud based solutions implementing leading services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, IBM Bluemix or Microsoft Azure.

A variety of gateway types are also available through Avnet Silica providing a complete end-to-end solution for enterprises or municipalities wanting to deploy LoRaWAN networks.

TrackNet is well established in LoRaWAN technologies and markets and will bolster Avnet Silica’s presence in LoRaWAN.

The TrackNet team has been instrumental in the technical development of LoRa and LoRaWAN since its infancy and key contributors to the LoRa Alliance, a key industry standardisation body that Avnet Silica joined as member in early 2017.

“The Avnet Silica and TrackNet agreement allows for easy access to cost effective sensors, gateways, and seamless network server connectivity,” said Hardy Schmidbauer, CEO at TrackNet.  “Enterprise clients can easily scale and develop end-to-end IoT solutions with the broad portfolio of Avnet Silica components, products, and solutions.”

“This agreement with TrackNet enables Avnet Silica to provide customers with all they need to create a LoRaWAN private network,” said John Jones (pictured), director of innovation at Avnet Silica. “The TrackNet offering represents a complete end-to-end solution that is ready today for immediate integration and deployment, delivering exceptional time-to-market for our customers.”
