EBV Elektronik has reshuffled its vertical segment structure after identifying key areas that it says will take the strategy to the next level. Market related focus will fall on Automotive, Consumer, Renewable Energies, Healthcare and HighRel segments. For the technology driven segments, EBV will concentrate on FPGA, RF and Wireless, LightSpeed and Identification.

While maintaining the Automotive, Consumer and Renewable Energies segments, the company is adding healthcare and fitness applications to its former Medical segment, which will now be called Healthcare. Furthermore, with the HighRel segment, EBV is establishing a fifth market related area focusing on markets where high reliability is required, such as avionic, space and defence.

The four technology driven segments enable EBV to provide tied cross-market technology and expertise to its customers. Within the next few years, EBV expects significant growth opportunities in the RF and Wireless as well as in the FPGA segments. In LightSpeed, EBV has built a strong market position supported by activities like the EBV LightLab which aides customers in LED lighting design. EBV says it will continue to strengthen and extend this position. As with the Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 etc., authentication and security will become more important, so EBV will expand the scope of the former RFID segment to include Identification.

“With this newly optimised vertical structure, we will be able to deepen relationships with our customers and suppliers while extending our market and technology expertise,” explains Thomas Staudinger (pictured), vice president Vertical Segments at EBV Elektronik. “Furthermore, it is absolutely necessary to translate a great technology into a meaningful offering for customers in a specific market. Our new approach of market related and technology driven segments will enable us to achieve this close cooperation.”
