Conrad Electronic has acquired bewegewas Holding, a digitalisation specialist with a 20-years track record in open innovation and operating environment software development.

The two companies, which are less than 10 kilometres part in the Amberg-Sulzbach district of Bavaria, have already collaborated on a number of projects, and will now focus on futher enhancements to the Conrad Sourcing Platform.

“We strive to make sourcing as simple, as fast and as comprehensible as possible for our customers. In order to do so, we listen closely to their needs, to identify areas for improvement early, and come up with solutions,” explains Ralf Bühler (pictured), CEO of Conrad Electronic. “The Conrad Sourcing Platform helps us take the next step when it comes to streamlining our business model – clearly focussing on B2B, aiming to become Europe’s leading sourcing platform for technical business supplies.”

The acquisition of bewegewas Holding will help Conrad pursue this goal.

“It’s one of life’s crazy coincidences that bewegewas Holding which is now helping us expand our sourcing platform, happens to be based in Amberg. Which is basically just down the road,” adds Bühler.

bewegewas has already proven its technical skills and competencies during a string of collaborative projects, including developing customer-specific services, rolling out new platform features or upgrading existing digital infrastructure.

These collaborations prompted Christian Hubmann, CEO of bewegewas Holding, to become part of the Conrad family. “The way I see it, our expertise fits well with Conrad’s ambitious plans for the future. We are committed to speed up the development of the sourcing platform, putting all our resources in.”

Regardless of the difference in size, Conrad CEO Ralf Bühler believes that both companies are an excellent match with regard to both mindset and the way they operate:

“Just because we are getting really close to our 100th year in business, this doesn’t mean we’ve lost any of our pioneering spirit when it comes to all things digital. We even call ourselves a 98-year-old start-up. I am pretty confident that Conrad and bewegewas will do exceedingly well together in terms of what customers expect from us.”
