Avnet Memec, with partners Cirrus Logic and Energy Micro, is demonstrating a package of advanced technologies for smart meters and smart homes at Metering, Billing/CRM Europe 2012 at Amsterdam RAI on October 9-11 at Booth B40.

According to Juerg Siegenthaler, Technical Marketing Manager at Avnet Memec, “The key preoccupations for smart utility and smart homes professionals as they meet at the RAI Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam will be to deliver energy efficient measurement and communication solutions to the market quickly to meet a very tight window. Avnet Memec addresses these challenges directly, offering the latest low power microcontroller technologies, associated with energy efficient wireless communication and best in class energy harvesting technologies. This package is supported by great design tools and technical support getting customers to market as quickly as possible.”

The Energy Micro presence on Booth B40 is focused on its lowest energy metering solution, and offers a demonstration of a complete energy harvesting application. This is based on the company’s energy efficient peripherals, including with a UART communication solution consuming just 1 micro-Amp and a display controller consuming just 1.5 micro-Amps. The outstanding development tool support offered by Energy Micro shortens design cycles by an estimated 50%.

The Cirrus Logic demonstration focuses on the company’s Energy Measurement ICs. These MCU agnostic devices are easy to design in, offering a highest accuracy, fast calibration, scaleable and ultra-low noise measurement solution.

Also on the Avnet Memec stand are Analog Front End solutions for smart energy measurement, and market leading power line solutions. Other demonstrations focus on the use of the ultra-low power ARM Cortex-M3 MCUs to create energy efficient Gas-, Water- and Heat Meters. These are complemented by demonstrations of industry leading low-power RF technologies with complete read-out solutions like Wireless M-Bus, 6LowPAN, ZigBee, Wi-Fi and Power Line Communication, as well as GPRS solutions for long range.
