Two years on from its acquisition by Avnet and Premier Farnell is flourishing. In 2018 the distributor delivered global revenue of $1.5bn, up 11.1% year over year and posted consecutive year on year growth each quarter at a global and regional level (EMEA, North America & Asia-Pacific). It exited the year with Q4 sales growth of 13% year over year.


Industry veteran Kris Haggstrom has joined PEI-Genesis as Senior Director of E-Commerce and Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS). Haggstrom brings a wealth of experience from the distribution segment having spent the better part of 25 years in various senior management positions for Future Electronics and Digi-Key Electronics, building and managing global sales and E-Commerce business units.


Avnet revenues rose 9.8% year on year to $5.06bn in the fourth quarter of 2018. Income fell to $58.6m against $81.4m in the fourth quarter. Highlights included Premier Farnell where revenues increased 13% year on year, and record 11.8% margins were achieved.

Arrow Electronics

Distributors continue to help cushion customers from the effects of components shortages, though there are signs of a softening market. Addressing analysts on a call hosted by seeking, Arrow Electronics CEO Michael Long indicated that while it’s global components business leading indicators remained healthy and its backlog continued to grow at robust rate, the rate of sequential year-over-year growth moderated.
