Adafruit Industries has been named as a global reseller of CadSoft Computer’s PCB prototyping solution, EAGLE.
Thomas Liratsch, Managing Director of CadSoft Computer, explained: “We have defined the DiY and Maker space as one of our key segments – not only recently, but two decades ago when CadSoft was born. As the DIY, Maker and hacker scene is becoming extremely popular and important, we continue to look for opportunities to support this market and drive innovation. Adafruit is a well-known and established company, focusing on exactly this customer group and these goals, and we are very pleased and looking forward to our expanding relationship.”
Phillip Torrone, Managing Director of Adafruit Industry, added: “In our opinion, adding the CadSoft EAGLE PCB design software to our portfolio is just the next logical step. Our company founder Limor Fried – in the maker scene widely known as LadyAda – has been using EAGLE since her early days of designing PCBs and it is still her tool of preference. This collaboration with CadSoft enables us to offer our customers another indispensable tool when it comes to the design of electronics.”
CadSoft Computer is celebrating its 25th anniversary in November and its award-winning EAGLE software has become one of the market leading design solutions in its range. EAGLE is a user-friendly, powerful and affordable choice for efficient PCB design, combining three modules (schematic editor, layout editor and autorouter) in a common user interface. EAGLE is fully supported on Linux®, Mac® and the Microsoft Windows® platforms with files being completely interchangeable. With a fair licensing model and available at reasonable cost, including free lifetime support and no annual maintenance fees, EAGLE version 6.5 offers great value for all companies, hobbyists and educational institutions.
