Arrow Electronics is the latest distributor to cosy up to a design tools supplier. The company is to collaborate with Cadence Design Systems to bring integrated design tools to engineers. As part of the collaboration, the companies plan to allow engineers using the Cadence OrCAD suite of printed circuit board (PCB) design tools to access Arrow’s comprehensive online component and reference design data available through Silicon Expert.
“The collaboration with Arrow allows customers to access qualified components while using the Cadence PCB suite so they can deliver innovative designs to market faster,” said Tom Beckley, senior vice president and general manager, Custom IC and PCB Group at Cadence. “Many of our customers already use Arrow products and services, so the collaboration can provide a seamless customer experience.”
Access to this component and reference design data early in the design and schematic-capture process can help engineers shorten their time to market by achieving production-ready designs and ensuring that components are readily available, regulatory compliant and have lifecycles consistent with product requirements and cost targets.
The collaboration also allows Arrow’s global team of support and solutions engineering teams to add the OrCAD suite of design tools to their portfolio, enabling them to create and deliver reference designs in OrCAD formats and better support engineers who utilise OrCAD design tools.
