Electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, recognized by design engineers as having the industry’s broadest selection of electronic components available for immediate shipment, today announced the 2011 Digi-Key Catalog has been distributed to customers in the United States and Canada and is now available for online viewing.
In an effort to streamline distribution of the catalog and reduce the environmental impact, Digi-Key has reduced the frequency of publishing the catalog to once per year for domestic and international catalogs, in addition to launching wireless applications for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices and Android compatible devices.
“Our customers are concerned about the environment and many have requested that Digi-Key find ways to reduce its impact on the environment,” said Mark Larson, Digi-Key’s president and COO. “We have responded by reducing the frequency of publishing our print catalog in favor of providing the same information in PDF form and through the interactive catalog on our website. This allows our customers to have instant access to our more than 500,000 products in stock from their desktops, thus reducing waste and environmental impact.”
Additionally, Digi-Key offered its customers the option to receive the catalog by mail, or to view it online at www.digikey.com instead. In order to receive the Digi-Key catalog by mail, customers may call Digi-Key or visit the Digi-Key website to request a printed copy.
“Digi-Key has the most comprehensive website in the electronic components industry. At digikey.com, engineers can find our 500,000-plus products ready for off-the-shelf-delivery as well as an additional 1.3 million products available for purchase,” Larson said. “Our website is a valuable resource for engineers. They can use our catalog of in-stock product for reference and then search our website to find information on real-time product quantities, current pricing, lead-time information and more. We believe our website truly is the best source for electronic components in the industry.”
