Ultrahaptics will cooperate with distributor EBV Elektronik to distribute and market Ultrahaptics’ TOUCH Development Kit (UHDK5) and related microprocessors under its EBVchips program in the EMEA region.

‘This cooperation agreement is the next step for us, giving customers easy access to the development kit to be able to quickly build prototypes. Customisation options come as part of the software along with a library of pre-programmed sensations,’ said Steve Cliffe, CEO at Ultrahaptics. ‘EBVchips offers us the opportunity to scale the solution to the needs of the customer, strengthening our commitment to provide an easy-to-use and easy-to-buy solution to our customer base.’

The UHDK5 development platform uses ultrasound to provide touch feedback in mid-air – enabling users to ‘feel’ virtual buttons, switches, dials and other objects in mid-air. The technology enables clients across all industries to evolve their user interfaces and create more immersive and differentiated services and user experiences.  The applications of this technology are endless, says Ultrahaptics.

The TOUCH Development Kit (UHDK5), created with the support of the European Commission Horizon 2020 programme, offers designers and developers a complete hardware and software package with an architecture that can be readily embedded in product designs, from prototypes right through to volume production.

‘We are very excited to add Ultrahaptics to our EBVchips portfolio,’ said Dr. Eckart Voskamp, Director Product Innovations at EBV Elektronik. ‘The unique solution Ultrahaptics offers allows developers to design in touchless haptic feedback to a wide variety of applications, all of which can be supported by our expert team of Technical Sales Specialists.’
