Farnell element14 has signed a new franchise with Autodesk, a leader in mechanical design software, to sell its products in Europe, including two new products from Autodesk, the AutoCAD LT and the AutoDesk Fusion 360. Aimed at mechanical design engineers, AutoCAD LT delivers smarter tools to bring precision to 2-D drawings with applications in rendering 2-D drawings and prototyping.

AutoCAD LT is based on AutoCAD technology, a design platform trusted by millions of professionals for more than 30 years. Auto LT now offers features such as line fading and smoother curves for a more stunning visual experience; smart dimensioning, which automatically creates appropriate, context-based measurements; and the ability to produce smaller, smarter, and more searchable PDFs and even attach PDFs to drawings.

Smarter 2D drafting tools minimise repetitive tasks making work more efficient. With Trusted DWG technology, files are compatible with other AutoDesk software and support data fidelity.

Supporting the future of making things, AutoDesk Fusion 360 enables mechanical design, 3D modelling, rapid prototyping, and 3D prototyping (3D printing).

Fusion 360 is the world’s first cloud-enabled 3D design software and is the first 3D CAD, CAM, and CAE tool of its kind. It brings together CAD, CAM, and CAE, connecting the entire product development process in a single cloud-based tool. It’s an integrated, connected and accessible platform built for the new ways products are being designed and made.

AutoCAD Fusion 360 connects the entire product development process in a single cloud-based platform that works on both Mac and PC allowing the user to design, test, and fabricate in a single tool.

Peter Wenzel, Global Software Product Line Manager, element14, commented:“The new Autodesk franchise strengthens Farnell element14’s portfolio of professional engineering software and solidifies our position as the destination for engineering software for electronics and industrial engineers alike. As one of the most trusted CAD tool providers in the world for all engineering disciplines, Autodesk’s products complement Farnell element14’s existing capabilities and offerings and will also present new mechanical design opportunities for members of our element14 Community.”
