Premier Farnell, the leading multi-channel, high service distributor of electronic components, will provide access to over 8,000 free, 3D multi-media models of Tyco Electronics products to support millions of electronic design engineers globally, in their designing processes. The 3D models will be available globally via element14, the company’s online technology resource and community created exclusively for electronic design engineers. The products are available for purchase via the web in Europe, through Farnell and Asia Pacific, through Premier Electronics.

Design engineers will now be able to view the Tyco Electronics products in 3D with the added ability to rotate the image 360 degrees, enabling them to view the part from all angles. The 3D product models can be very helpful to design engineers in visualising how a product may fit into an overall design plan.

The 8,000 plus 3D products will also be highlighted through element14, where design engineers globally collaborate, share and access new information to support them in their design work.

“The development of the 3D design models from Tyco Electronics is very exciting and we welcome it as a part of our online tools that continue to make our services to our customers even better,” said David Shen, Group Senior Vice President and Global Head of EDE and Technical Marketing of Premier Farnell. “We will continue to investigate and look for new and innovative ideas to expanding our already successful solutions, providing a well received online distribution model for our customers in both existing and emerging markets.”

“3D modelling is becoming significantly more pervasive in a much wider range of applications, especially for design engineers, said Mark Levy, General Manager, Global Distribution at Tyco Electronics. This imagery allows Premier Farnell to support design engineers with the technology to address the next generation of innovative applications.”.
