Coming off a very strong showing in the United Kingdom, the Mouser Electronics-sponsored Rebellion Racing team is preparing to tackle the iconic and challenging track at Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium tomorrow (May 7). Mouser is again teaming with its manufacturer partner LEMO to sponsor the Rebellion team in the 2016 season.
The team kicked off the 2016 FIA WEC racing season in fine form April 17, finishing third and fourth at Britain’s Six Hours of Silverstone, and taking the top two positions in the LMP1 Privateer class. Rebellion’s No. 13 car, driven by the team of Matheo Tuscher, Dominik Kraihamer and Alexandre Imperatori, came in a strong third, closely followed by their sister car, No. 12, driven by some familiar surnames on Nicolas Prost, Nick Heidfeld and Nelson Piquet Jr.
The Rebellion team closed a very successful 2015 racing season on a high note in November, with the No. 13 Rebellion R-One AER winning the last race of the season, the 6 Hours of Bahrain. With that win, the No. 13 crew secured second place in the teams’ championship and completed a 1-2 finish with the No. 12 car in the FIA WEC Endurance Trophy for Private LMP1 Teams.
“With a very successful season last year, we had high hopes for a strong outing at Silverstone, and we were not disappointed,” said Todd McAtee, Vice President of Americas, Business Development at Mouser Electronics. “This high-tech sport perfectly aligns with our performance-driven business model and provides a great platform to raise awareness for Mouser and our industry-leading manufacturers.”
