Lane Electronics has strengthened its capability within the motorsport sector with the acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, of the distribution business of leading motorsport component and systems specialist bf1systems. Lane established a dedicated motorsport division late last year.

bf1systems provides electrical, electronic and composite solutions to the Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace and Marine Industries. It’s components are featured on championship winning vehicles in all top level motorsport disciplines as well as on many the World’s most prestigious road cars.

Part of the privately owned Lodge Group, which also includes the UK connector manufacturer Weald Electronics, Lane Electronics supplies mostly from stock a very wide selection of connector products from many of the industry’s leading manufacturers.

Like the bf1systems distribution business just acquired, Lane’s Motorsport Division is centered on the industry and technology leading Souriau 8STA compact circular connector family which is used extensively throughout all levels of motorsport in applications such as engine control units, communications equipment, data acquisition systems and harnesses.

Simon Hammerton, Managing Director of Lane Electronics commented, “By incorporating bf1systems’ distribution interests into our motorsport division, we are now even better positioned to service the requirements of an enlarged customer base across this exciting and innovative industry sector. This is an important development for our growing motorsport division and we are all looking forward to 2014 which will begin with us meeting many of our customers at the Autosport International show at the NEC in January.”
