Farnell has secured an exclusive distribution agreement with electrical / electronic equipment safety product specialist Peccater. Farnell will offer the company’s innovative Thermiac devices that provide a unique solution to protect against equipment damage and fire risks caused by overheating when operating temperatures exceed 80ºC.
Unlike conventional circuit protection devices, Thermiac devices become a non-reversible closed circuit in the event of a fault, allowing the driving of trips or warning features such as audible alarms. Extremely small in size, Thermiac devices are available with 3 V and 220 V ratings in both axial leaded and surface mount formats. They can be crimped or fastened in place; axial leaded parts may also be soldered.

The new ‘anti-sulfurated’ resistors AF Series of Yageo are designed for use in environments exposed to high levels of contamination, which could include industrial control systems, sensors, electric instrumentation and communication base stations. The devices satisfy the most demanding product applications with a high degree of reliability. They are also suited for electronic appliances used in high concentrations of sulfur gases i.e. hot springs and mines. The resisitors are available at distributor Rutronik now.
Yageo offers its AF series resistors in full size range, 0402/0603/0805/1206, with high degree of anti-sulfurated capabilities. According to international norms ASTM test, the new series meets the most stringent testing standards with excellent anti-sulfuration characteristics. The company has a high focus on anti-sulfurated resistor research and development. As a result Yageo introduced the AF series resistors using other special material than gold in the inner electrode with the alteration of the resistor structure to not only improve the anti-sulfuration capabilities but also to save costs. Certain atmospheric conditions release substances causing sulfuration reaction which further affects the efficiency of electronic products. This makes it necessary for some electronic product manufacturers to use anti-sulfate resistors under extreme environmental condition. Yageo will come up with more advanced products shortly.

Silicon protection arrays protect electronic devices from destructive ESD
Electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, recognized by design engineers as having the industry’s broadest selection of electronic components available for immediate shipment, today announced it is now stocking SP1000 and SP3000 series silicon protection arrays from Littelfuse.
Part of Littelfuse’s Lead-Free/Green series SPA™ line of silicon protection array products, the SP1000 and SP3000 series are now available for purchase on Digi-Key’s global websites and will be featured in future print and online catalogs.
The SP1000 and SP3000 series of devices protect electronic equipment from electrostatic discharge (ESD) at or above the maximum level specified in the IEC 61000-4-2 international standard (Level 4, 8kV). The SP1000 series offers discrete protection in 0201 and 0402 form factors and also includes multi-channel arrays that vary in capacitance from 3.5-30pF.
The SP3000 series offers multi-channel protection in small form factor packaging with capacitances in the 0.4-2.4pF range. The ultra-low capacitance of the SP3000 series is ideal for preventing signal degradation on today’s high-speed buses such as HDMI and USB 3.0. Both series take advantage of the superior clamping performance of silicon and provide some of the lowest dynamic resistances available today. Applications for the two series include LCD/PDP TVs, set top boxes, notebooks, netbooks, ultra mobile PCs, mobile phones, smart phones, portable navigation devices, portable medical devices, MP3/PMPs, and digital cameras.
