Future Technology Devices International Signs Global Distribution Agreement with Arrow Electronics

Future Technology Devices Internationa has signed a global distribution agreement with Arrow Electronics, Inc. Under the agreement, Arrow will distribute FTDI’s complete portfolio to customers in the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions.

Latttice announces transfer of its standard military drawing (SMD) product line to Arrow Electronics

Lattice Semiconductor Corporation today announced the transfer of its Standard Military Drawing (SMD) product portfolio to Arrow Electronics Inc., effective immediately. Lattice’s SMD products include the GAL® family (GAL16V8, GAL20V8 and GAL22V10) of simple PLDs and the ispLSI®1000 family (ispLSI 1016, ispLSI 1024, ispLSI 1032 and ispLSI 1048) of complex PLDs. Lattice’s SMD products were formally discontinued by Lattice via its Product Change Notification (PCN) process in 2011. A copy of PCN 05A-10 can be found here. By transferring the SMD product family to Arrow Electronics, Lattice SMD customers now have a new supply channel that can support the ongoing demand for these popular devices.

Arrow Electronics has a strong history of providing support for discontinued SMD products, and supports a broad array of military-grade products in the Programmable Logic, Memory and Analog market segments. “This agreement and others like it make it possible for Arrow to fulfill our commitment to long-term support for our aerospace and defense customers. By acquiring finished goods, die-level products, and the necessary test equipment, Arrow Electronics will support delivery of these critical components for many years to come,” said Tyler Moore, Director of Supply Assurance for Arrow Electronics.

Murata extends partnership with Arrow Electronics across Europe

Murata announced today that it has extended its distribution agreement with Arrow Electronics. Already a strong partner for Murata over many years, the new contract expands the geographical reach to include a number of new countries.

Arrow Electronics and Carclo Optics sign EMEA distribution agreement

arrow_carcloEffective immediately, Arrow Electronics, Inc. will distribute Carclo Optics lighting products in the EMEA region. Carclo Optics, based in Slough, United Kingdom, is a business division of Carclo Technical Plastics Ltd. (CTP), and supplies a range of lighting products including lenses, reflectors, optics and modules. Carclo develops street lighting systems, among others.

Its partnership with Carclo Optics enables Arrow to expand its range of lighting solutions in the high-power LED and solid-state lighting sectors. In combination with technical consultancy from its EMEA Lighting Team specialists, Arrow is in a position to offer an overall product range for the development and production of a lighting application, from drivers and connectors through power and thermal management solutions through to LEDs.

Arrow Electronics acquires Nu Horizons Electronics

Increases presence in fast-growing Asia Pacific market Accretive to earnings in first year

Arrow Electronics today announced that it has agreed to acquire Nu Horizons Electronics (“Nu Horizons”) in an all cash transaction for $7.00 per share. Nu Horizons is a leading global distributor of advanced technology semiconductor, display, illumination, and power solutions to a wide variety of commercial original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and electronic manufacturing services providers (EMS).

Nu Horizons has sales facilities in more than 50 locations across North America, Asia, and Europe and regional logistics centers throughout the globe, serving a wide variety of end markets including industrial, military, networking, telecommunications, and data communications. Nu Horizons partners with best-in-class suppliers to provide in-depth product development, custom logistics, and life-cycle support to its customers. Active components distributed by the company, principally to OEMs, include mainly commercial semiconductor products, such as memory chips, microprocessors, digital and linear circuits, microwave, radio frequency (RF) and fiber-optic components, transistors and diodes.

“This acquisition builds on our strategy to expand our global capabilities, especially in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region,” said Michael J. Nu Horizons is headquartered in Melville, N.Y., and has over 700 employees. Total sales were $671 million for the fiscal year ended February 28, 2010. The transaction is expected to be $.05-$.10 per share accretive to earnings in the first full year of operations. The acquisition has been approved by the Boards of Directors of both companies and is subject to the approval of Nu Horizons’ shareholders as well as customary regulatory approvals. The transaction is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2010
