Two new high-performance product families from TT electronics
Farnell has announced the stocking of two new high performance product ranges from TT electronics. The first is the Semelab ALFET family of audio transistors for which Farnell will be the exclusive distributor. The second is Semelab’s SML family of six high reliability silicon carbide (SiC) diodes.
ALFET audio transistors offer high performance, a small device footprint and excellent sonic characteristics for applications in the output stages of professional audio power amplifiers. Delivering reliable and robust performance when compared to bipolar solutions, these devices feature a wide safe operating area (SOA) and offer simplified protection, which saves cost and reduces design complexity.
Semelab’s family of SiC diodes combines the attributes of silicon carbide and advanced packaging to provide high-end performance and reliability. Suitable for high-temperature operation and featuring low forward voltages, the devices are ideal for the most demanding applications including high-efficiency and high-frequency designs.
“The addition of these two high performance product ranges from the TT electronics portfolio increases the choice of device solutions we can offer to our customers,” said Richard Curtin, Head of Product & Supplier Management Farnell Europe. “By offering specialised components like these, with applications engineering support, design engineers can utilise Farnell and the element14 online community as a one-stop resource for all their new designs.”

Mouser Electronics, Inc., regarded as a top global engineering design resource for semiconductors and electronic components, today announced it is stocking new product from KEMET.
The KEMET High Voltage Flexible Termination (HV FT-CAP) MLCCs are SMT commercial grade X7R capacitors that combine high voltage and flexible termination technologies in order to address the primary failure mode of MLCCs – flex cracks. Flexible termination technology directs board flex stress away from the ceramic body and into the termination area, therefore mitigating flex cracks which can result in low IR or short circuit failures. The KEMET High Voltage Flexible Termination (HV FT-CAP) MLCCs feature a 125ºC maximum operating temperature to be considered “temperature stable”, a broad range of capacitance requirements, low leakage current, low ESR at high frequencies, up to 5mm of flex-bend capability, and a predictable change in capacitance with respect to time and voltage. The HV FT-CAPs are available in DC voltage ratings of 500V, 630V, 1KV, 1.5KV, 2KV, 2.5KV, and 3KV and capacitance offerings from 100pF to 0.1µF. The KEMET HV FT-CAP’s exceptional performance at high frequencies and high voltage has made them a preferred choice for use in power supplies and industries such as telecommunications, medical, military, aerospace, semiconductors, and test/diagnostic equipment.

Up to Double the Capacitance in a Traditional SMT Footprint
Mouser Electronics, Inc., known for its rapid introduction of the newest products, today announced it is the first to stock the KEMET Power Solutions (KPS Series) MLCC Capacitors.
KEMET’s KPS series (KEMET Power Solutions) utilizes proprietary lead-frame technology to vertically stack one or two multilayer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs) into a single compact surface mount package. The attached lead-frame mechanically isolates the capacitor/s from the printed circuit board, therefore offering advanced mechanical and thermal stress performance. Isolation also addresses concerns for audible, microphonic noise that may occur when a bias voltage is applied.
A two chip stack offers up to double the capacitance in the same or smaller design footprint when compared to traditional surface mount MLCC devices.
Providing up to 10mm of board flex capability, KPS series capacitors are environmentally friendly and in compliance with RoHS legislation. Available in X7R dielectric, these devices are capable of Pb-free reflow profiles and provide lower ESR, ESL and higher ripple current capability when compared to other dielectric solutions.
Andy Kerr, Mouser Vice President of Passives, says, “The KEMET Power Solutions KPS Series MLCC Capacitors feature extremely low ESR and ESL when compared to other dielectric solutions. The space savings, combined with twice the capacitance, makes the KPS Series an ideal solution in commercial and automotive applications.”
Jeff Franklin, KEMET Ceramic Specialty Product Manager, is pleased to offer the KEMET Power Solutions MLCC Capacitors to Mouser. “Mouser’s design-engineer customers will appreciate the many advantages of the lead-free, RoHS compliant KPS Series. A non-polar capacitor, the KPS Series minimizes installation concerns and is available in X7R dielectric for thermal protection up to 125⁰C.”
