DigiKey Receives 2009 Authorized Distributor Performance award from Honeywell

Electronic components distributor Digi-Key Corporation, recognized by design engineers as having the industry’s broadest selection of electronic components available for immediate shipment, recently received the 2009 Authorized Distributor Performance award from Honeywell Sensing and Control in recognition of Digi-Key’s 2009 sales figures.

Honeywell Sensing and Control’s Director of Global Distribution Sean Conley presented the award to Digi-Key Jan. 19, 2010 during Honeywell’s America Sales Kick-off event held in Orlando, Florida. Chris Beeson, Digi-Key vice president of sales and Volume Business Division, and Jon Dent, Digi-Key product manager, accepted the award on Digi-Key’s behalf.

New Omnipolar Magnetic Position Sensors from Honeywell

Mouser Electronics, Inc., known for its rapid introduction of the newest products, today announced it is stocking new product from Honeywell Sensing & Control.

The Honeywell Omnipolar Hall-effect Digital Position Sensors, SS351AT and SS451A, are small, sensitive, versatile sensors that are operated by the magnetic field from a permanent magnet or an electromagnet. They are designed to respond to either a North pole or a South pole. With a typical operating point of 85 G at 25ºC (77ºF), the Honeywell position sensors are available in two package styles: the SS351AT in the subminiature SOT-23 SMT, and the SS451A in the leaded, flat TO-92-style package.

Honeywell RPN Series

Honeywell’s new RPN Series of Hall-Effect rotary position sensors that has an operating range of up to 360° and so offers more choice for potential position sensing applications is now available in the UK from Aerco.

With Hall-Effect, non-contact operation and low torque actuation, the RPN range is sealed in a rugged package to IP67 protection levels or greater. Sensors are available in five supply voltages from 5 to 30V and can be preset to operate over eight ranges up to the maximum 360º thus making them compatible with a wide range of control systems.

Offering a high level of EMC protection, the RPN Series is ideal for detecting position and movement of pedals, throttles, gear shifts, levers and linkages and will find application in off-road, goods and industrial vehicles, cranes and industrial and agriculture equipment.

The sensor is flange mounted with two easily accessible mounting holes housed in a rugged sealed package with integral connector and has a long service life.

Honeywell Pressure Sensors, HSC Series

Honeywell´s HSC Series Pressure Sensors measure absolute, differential, and gauge pressures. The TruStability™ HSC Series Pressure Sensors are comprised of piezoresistive silicon and offer ratiometric output for reading pressure over the specified full scale pressure span and temperature range and measure pressure ranges from 60 mbar to 10 bar (1 psi to 150 psi).

Honeywell’s high accuracy HSC Series features analog/digital output with ±1% total error band, SMT, and DIP. The sensors are used for a wide range of medical and industrial applications and are intended for use with non-corrosive, non-ionic working fluids such as air and dry gases (meet ISO 9001).

New safety switches from Aerco reduces wiring and installation time

Now available in the UK from Aerco is the Honeywell MICRO SWITCH™ GKME series of dual connection safety switches. An extension of the GKM series, these new switches include two pre-assembled connectors that allow daisy-chain connections to be made from switch to switch and this can reduce wiring time up to fifty percent in some installations.

The GKME is designed to provide maximum machine safety and the removal of any switch indicates that a door is open and breaks the electrical safety chain. The design also simplifies both planned and unplanned maintenance because modules can be easily removed and replaced.

Potential applications include packaging and assembly equipment and textile and printing machinery.
