UK electronic component distributor Anglia Components today announced that it has been named Distributor of the Year for Murata, after capturing number 1 position in the UK and Ireland network for the second year in succession.

Anglia a franchised distributor for Welwyn, BI and IRC resistors Qualified to supply CECC components

Anglia today announced that it has been appointed as franchised distributor for the UK and Ireland by TT electronics, a world leading manufacturer of resistive components. Under the agreement, Anglia can supply the Welwyn Components, BI and IRC ranges including CECC and Mil approved components.

TT electronics strengthens Anglia’s product portfolio with the addition of specialist and innovative resistive products including high power, current sense, flameproof, pulse withstanding, fusible, high value, high voltage, precision and temperature sensing ranges. In addition, TT electronics has qualified Anglia to supply its entire range of CECC release and Mil approved resistive products.

Prior to the signing of the agreement, TT electronics audited Anglia for the supply of its CECC and Mil approved products. Following this inspection, Anglia’s CECC qualification has been extended to cover the relevant TT electronics ranges, and its certificate and database entry updated. The new certificate can be found on Anglia’s website, and its updated entry viewed in the IECQ-CECC online supplier database. The TT electronics franchise complements the existing ranges of CECC qualified capacitors from AVX and Syfer offered via Anglia’s specialist division, Anglia Hi-Rel.

Anglia has invested strongly in its military and aerospace customers over the last two years, and is one of only a few elite distributors to hold AS9120, one of the world’s most demanding standards for the supply of components for safety-critical flight systems. Anglia strengthened its analogue power portfolio and its grip on the solid state lighting sector with the announcement that it has been appointed as UK distributor by Supertex Inc., a recognised leader in high voltage analogue and mixed signal integrated circuits. Supertex is widely acknowledged as the number one brand for LED drivers. Anglia now has exclusive distribution rights for the UK and Ireland effective from 1st January 2011.

Distributor creates board-level semiconductor marketing position

Anglia Components, the UK’s leading independent electronic component distributor, has promoted John Bowman to its board, giving him the newly created position of Marketing Director – Semiconductors.

The appointment is a further mark of Anglia’s commitment to invest in its fast-growing semiconductor business, according to Steve Rawlins, CEO. “John has shown outstanding leadership and vision during his 13 years with Anglia, for example in growing ST as a strategic semiconductor franchise and building our M2M business. We believe that he has a big contribution to make to Anglia as we grow, further extending our semiconductor franchise base and opening new business areas,” he said, adding that the distributor has enjoyed an exceptional year, growing 35%.

He has been at Anglia for 13 years and his career has included management roles in Business Development and Field Application Engineering. He joined in 1997 as Field Sales Engineer. Prior to this he was with TT Group plc.

Anglia M2M has announced a new authorised distribution agreement with Swedish based wireless company connectBlue, strengthening its support for all the popular wireless communications standards. Awarded IECQ-CECC qualification to support defence and aerospace requirements

Anglia Components, the UK’s leading privately owned electronic component distributor, strengthened its presence as a supplier of electronic components to defence and aerospace customers with the announcement that it has been qualified by the British Standards Institution (BSI) for the supply of IECQ-CECC approved product.

Anglia is already one of an elite few distributors to hold AS9120, one of the world’s most demanding quality standards, accrediting the company to supply components for safety critical flight systems for the aerospace and defence industries. It is also a signatory of the ADS SC21 programme. Before awarding the IECQ-CECC qualification, BSI examined Anglia’s processes for the handling, storage and management of product in detail, to ensure that full lot traceability of any IECQ-CECC certified devices passing through its warehouse would be maintained.

Expands sales and marketing team with 3 new people

Anglia has expanded its sales and marketing team with three new appointments. Jaqui Fretwell joins Anglia as Divisional Marketing Manager – Business Development and Shirley Vacher and Nicole Claxton join as Key Account Managers.

Commenting, Jim Ward said, “Anglia’s strong emphasis on investing in our customer relationships has been a key factor in bringing our business through the recent downturn successfully. As the market recovers, we are continuing that strategy and bringing on board three individuals with exceptional skills and experience to enlarge our customer facing organisation.”

Jaqui Fretwell has spent 17 years in the industry and joins as Divisional Marketing Manager, reporting to Jim Ward, Sales and Marketing Director.

Nicole Claxton and Shirley Vacher are both seasoned sales professionals. Claxton, who will look after customers in Surrey, Oxfordshire and Middlesex, has a 14 year track record in distribution sales and joins from Acal where she spent three years as Account Manager. Previously, she has held sales positions at Memec, Avnet Millennium, 2001 and Arrow.

Vacher will cover Wiltshire, Hampshire and Berkshire, and joins from sales generation specialists the Newbury Group. She brings 25 years sales experience to the role, including ten years in component distribution with Acal, Gothic and Advanced Crystal Technology.

As Key Account Managers, both will report to Debbie Houseley Stott, Regional Sales Manager, South.

Anglia collects Intersil Partner award

Anglia Components today announced that it has been named the Intersil ‘Best Distribution Partner’ for Europe in 2009, less than six months after signing the franchise agreement. The award was presented by Robert Pfister, VP of Sales, Europe, at the Intersil Global Conference in California. This is the first time it has been presented since 2006.

The award is due to Anglia’s design and engineering capability, which has led to fast progress in securing design wins, according to Peter Schubert, Director of Sales, Distribution & Horizontal, Europe, at Intersil. He said, “Our goal in appointing Anglia was to add more and deeper technical expertise to our network, and their performance in the first months of our relationship has fully justified their appointment. Their ability to get up to speed with the technology quickly has been extremely impressive, and as a result they have already secured several design-ins with customers that are new to Intersil. In one case, they secured the first design-win globally for a new line of Intersil products.” Schubert continued, “Anglia has invested strongly in the Intersil line and the relationship is working well at every level.”
