Hold onto your hats! The contest to acquire Premier Farnell is not over yet. Datwyler could be brewing up a new bid for the UK-based distributor. The Swiss-based group has announced its first half financial results (very healthy, revenues up 7% to 570m Euro) and still sounds keen on expanding its distribution portfolio.

It wants to expand its Technical Components Division, where it has implemented a shared infrastructure platform across its two divisions and needs some more distribution heft to deliver economies of scale.

The company states, “With respect to the potential acquisition of Premier Farnell, in light of the higher offer submitted by Avnet on 28 July, Datwyler is currently considering its options and how to proceed and will make an announcement as appropriate in due course. Also as communicated previously, should the offer proceed, it would turn Datwyler into a leading high-service electronic components distributor with combined annual revenue of £1.6bn Euro.”
